Terra Incognita

This was a joint film project between myself and Kevin Margo.   We took about three days and went to Solvang were we filmed it.  Spent the first day scouting for a location and then planning out most of the shots, spent that night coming up with a shot plan for the next day were we crammed in all the shots with the girl so she only had to have her hair and makeup for one day.   Then we returned the next day to do filler and pickup shots.    I then did most of the editing and Kevin and I split the shots and both did the coloring.  Kevin did a lot of the close up and filler shots, the book in the tree shots, etc.    I took the first filler shot though which I think is my favorite shot from the whole thing.

You should really watch it in HD though, so hit that HD button on the video, although you’ll be redirected to the vimeo site I believe, HD really does look a lot better.

Stills from the video:

This shot staring "Foot Long" the little worm, ended up being my favorite shot and worked as a good opening.

Kevin's Inspired Andrew Wyeth shot, which we managed to squeeze in after he came up with the idea in the middle of the shooting day. I did the coloring.

This was the first shot we filmed and the one that I knew I wanted right from the moment I imagined the idea.

This was a pickup shot we did the last day, it was a lot of fun to film. The beautiful dress was made by my mom.

We never planned for her to turn to the camera but it was a great moment she did once and it worked out perfectly.

Originally the video was going to be more commercial and end differently but the sunset ending felt more powerful.
